Yr 8 Charity

In year 8, at Deyes high school, many fundraisers have been put in place, for their chosen charity. All money earned will be donated to Cancer Research.
The year 8 students think it is important to fundraise, as it raises awareness and gives us the opportunity to give to those in need. This also means that students are willing to donate to a good cause.
The pupils at Deyes High have raised over £300 altogether, so far they are only half way done. Their goal is to raise £1000, to give to Cancer Research.

Thank you!

Causing Drama with Drama!

We asked a Drama teacher and what she thought about not doing Drama in Year 9. She said “I love Drama because it gives children a chance to express themselves. It is a really enjoyable subject and gives pupils a chance to explore texts practically.” and said “We should have Drama in Y9 because pupils need to start thinking about GCSEs and they need to explore a range of subjects so they can choose what to pick for GCSEs. Drama offers a lot of skills in life and jobs like communication skills, confidence and presentation skills.” and lastly said “Drama can explore texts practically and choose what to make it but in English it is always the same”

#LikeaBoy #LikeaGirl

Today a new project was introduced to Year 8 in Deyes High School, #LikeABoy vs #LikeAGirl. This project was launched to improve student’s attitude towards school and help them to become better, more mature and positive people. The basic idea is to start a friendly rivalry between boys and girls to see who can be the most positive and best versions of themselves. For more information, watch the interview below with Mrs Richards, the creator of this new project.
